New Player Guide

Whitelist and applying

To start playing on the server a player must first whitelist to join the server, this includes a confirmation that you’ve read and understand the rules, a short example of roleplay, some descriptions of terms and a short introduction to your persona, all information for this can be found in our rules document. We also ask that you familiarise yourself with some basic lore of the server and include this in your roleplay example and character.

After you have uploaded your application a member of the moderation team will read over your application and give you advice if needed, we run a 3 strikes policy with applications meaning that you will be given 3 tries to adjust your application and if it still isn’t up to code then you’ll have to take a break and reread the rules before you apply again.

If you have been accepted with this application then you will get a message or comment on your post from our moderation team informing you that you’ve been accepted and some advice on where to go next, based on your character. Once you are on the server do not hesitate to start roleplaying all our members will be more than happy to help you.

Channels on the server

Whilst you are on the server most of your talking will be done in the /l channel (local) this has a medium sized range, think of this as your standard talking volume, for some roleplay scenarios you might have to use the /s (shout) channel.

if you break something down or do any major acts of villainy this has to be done on this channel along with announcements of raids this can be done with an emote like **any people near the gates would hear a loud snapping sound as the gates were broken down. This sound is followed by the cheers and shouts of the approaching group. Their intentions were very obviously that of pillaging and destroying the city** this could be followed up with an ooc message explaining how many raiders there are, though this isn’t necessary

The /w and /q channels serve a similar purpose so they are going to be grouped together these are for quiet or hushed conversations between a small amount of people, if you are going to whisper to somebody please first make an emote in the /l channel to explain your intentions and so that others have an idea of what’s going on

The last chat to talk about is the ooc chat, this is a server wide chat to ask questions or just have a general chat, this chat should remain roleplay free chat.

Roleplay standards

Whilst roleplaying on the server we ask that you keep all roleplay interactions no matter how small up to a good and high standard, this doesn’t mean that you have to type out paragraphs to buy some flowers but that you do keep in theme to your character and to fully roleplay it, even if your persona wouldn’t want to buy flowers roleplay it, even if it is just a few lines this still keeps both players engaged, if your persona is running past someone then act out how they swerve out of the way or hit into the other character.

This can sometimes be hard and you can’t think of anything to emote and that’s fine if you can’t think of anything explain this ooc and everyone should be fine with it, you should also think about your persona, for example in thievery you may feel like its hard to leave a compelling story for other people to follow but your character could drop a distinctive item for example a ring that they always wear, we also ask that you leave your mc username or to message the player so they can follow the threads if they wish to, that way you can give more details about it.

Emotes

All emotes should remain in theme and be open ended this may sound a little confusing at first but its a very easy and small change, all this means is that your emote shouldnt force anything on anyone.

Closed emote

Jim punched harry in the face hard

 Or

Jim flipped the table in rage, the table hit harry on the chin

Open ended

Jim swung his fist towards harry’s head hoping to hit him in the face

Or

Jim flipped the table in rage, the table got flung in harry’s direction

These are very basic examples but a few guidelines on it are to keep your emotes in the present tense, and leave room for the other player to act out their side. Another pointer is don’t emote your character’s thoughts instead their reactions to their thoughts.

Trollplay and meme roleplay

Whilst waiting for some situations to be resolved some players might feel the need to say ooc thoughts in the roleplay chats this could be emotes such as *just vibing * this type of roleplay can be irritating to other players and can result in moderation intervention, if you are waiting on someone’s remote or for a situation to be resolved then wait it out, if it has been a long time and you’re getting bored then ask ooc.

Always try to act in good faith especially after a pvp combat, we understand that in some situations this can be difficult but if you did get a players items offer to give some or all back and don’t taunt or insult the losing players

Resolving poor roleplay

If you are in a situation where you feel like your stuck roleplaying with someone who has poor roleplay we ask that you offer to help them, give them pointers on how to improve and ways to develop their skills, roleplaying can be difficult for some people or it might be some players first time roleplaying at all, if the player has been roleplaying with you for a long period of time and keeps doing poor roleplay then submit a report to the moderation team and they will help them improve or have a word with them in more severe cases.

In cases of repeated metaplay or powerplay we ask that you come to the moderators on discord with evidence of this and the moderation team will handle it keeping you anonymous from the player so as to not cause any bad blood or further disagreements .
